Lindsay Clancy's Judge Ended the Trial Instead of Removing ONE Juror
06 nov 2026 · 00:15:47
Prosecutors haven't decided whether to try Lindsay Clancy for murder a second time, and eleven jurors in the first trial were ready to find her not guilty by reason of insanity. One juror held out, and Judge William Sullivan declared a mistrial in September 2026. Clancy is charged in the deaths of her three children in Duxbury, Massachusetts, and is held at Tewksbury State Hospital while the charges stand.
On November 2nd, 2026, her lawyers asked Sullivan to dismiss the charges for good. They argue he should have questioned the holdout instead of ending the trial, and that a second trial would be double jeopardy. Sullivan hasn't ruled.
Eric Faddis, a defense attorney and former prosecutor, joins me to answer why a DA would want another murder trial here, and where Clancy goes if the charges disappear. Then we get to the six alternate jurors who sat through the entire trial, and how many Sullivan used.
