The Killing of Charles Vallow: Daybell Case Part 2
04 nov 2026 · 00:14:21
On July 11, 2019, Charles Vallow was shot twice in a Chandler, Arizona rental house by his brother-in-law, Alex Cox. Cox claimed self-defense and was never charged before his own death that December. Six years later, an Arizona jury convicted Lori Vallow Daybell of conspiring to murder her husband.
Part 2 of this docu-series lays out how it got there. Lori met author Chad Daybell on October 26, 2018, the date prosecutors say the conspiracy began. Over the following months, witnesses testified, Chad and Lori taught friends to rate people as light or dark and to see some as zombies whose bodies had been taken over. Charles, they said, was one of them.
Charles warned police, filed for divorce, named his fears to a lawyer, and moved his life insurance to his sister, Kay Woodcock. He emailed Tammy Daybell about the affair. In July, he moved back in with Lori to try to save the marriage, and planned an intervention with Lori's brother Adam.
Tony Brueski covers the shooting, the phone records, the 43 minutes before the 911 call, the texts that followed, and the death percentages Chad sent about Tammy and JJ. Part 2 ends with the family moving to Rexburg, Idaho.
