Will Lori Vallow Face Death Again If She Wins Her Appeal?

Lori Vallow Daybell's appeal reached the Idaho Supreme Court on November 2nd, and Justice Cynthia Meyer asked the question that reframed everything: if the court sides with Lori, does the death penalty come back? Her lawyer Craig Durham said the state has strong arguments against reviving the notice — but Lori is willing to find out. Her best argument is that a judge took away Mark Means, the lawyer she picked, in December 2021. Chad Daybell paid Means. And on a jail call, Chad told Lori the shared lawyer worked "unless we turn on each other." The justices handed that line right back to Durham. If Lori wins, Idaho starts over on the murders of JJ, Tylee and Tammy Daybell. Arizona's two life sentences for conspiring to kill Charles Vallow and Brandon Boudreaux still stand.
