After years of regulation, investment and technological development, why are we still discussing the same challenges? Can AI fundamentally improve investigations while criminals are using the same tools? And how do we measure whether AML efforts actually make a difference?

The guests explore the gap between compliance and effectiveness, the need for cross-border information sharing, and the importance of data quality and feedback from FIUs and law enforcement. They also discuss the human cost of financial exclusion and why closing alerts or filing reports tells us little about the criminal networks disrupted or victims protected.
