In this episode of the Leaders in Finance Podcast, Jeroen Broekema speaks with Folkert Eggink, CEO of Mogelijk Vastgoedfinancieringen.

Ten years after joining the company, Folkert reflects on the journey from a Dutch SME mortgage platform to a business with European ambitions. We talk about why predictable investments are becoming more relevant, how customer feedback continues to shape new products, and what it takes to keep growing while maintaining a strong focus on risk management.

Jeroen en Stan ter Huurne vertegenwoordigen samen twee generaties ondernemerschap binnen Collin Crowdfund, een van de grootste crowdfinance-platformen van Nederland. 

Jeroen ter Huurne begon zijn carrière bij Rabobank, waar hij uiteindelijk bijna dertig jaar werkzaam was, waarvan 22 jaar in directiefuncties. Op 29-jarige leeftijd werd hij de jongste Rabobankdirecteur van Zuid-Nederland. Na de financiële crisis zag hij dat traditionele banken steeds terughoudender werden in mkb-financiering. Vanuit die observatie richtte hij in 2014 Collin Crowdfund op, aanvankelijk vanuit het tuinhuis van zijn woning. 

Sindsdien groeide Collin Crowdfund uit tot een belangrijke speler in non-bancaire financiering, met inmiddels meer dan 1.5 miljard euro aan bemiddelde financieringen en ruim 50.000 actieve investeerders. 

Stan ter Huurne  is sinds december 2024  Operationeel Directeur van Collin Crowdfund. Daarvoor vervulde hij binnen de organisatie onder meer de functies van Business Controller en Bestuurssecretaris. Stan promoveerde in de Technische Natuurkunde aan de Eindhoven University of Technology.

Jacco Maters behoort tot de meest ervaren bestuurders in de Nederlandse institutionele beleggingswereld. Sinds 2018 is hij CEO en Chief Investment Officer van Anthos Fund & Asset Management. Daar is hij verantwoordelijk voor de wereldwijde beleggingsportefeuilles van families, family offices, stichtingen en andere institutionele langetermijnbeleggers. 

Onder zijn leiding ontwikkelde Anthos zich verder tot een internationaal opererende, values-based vermogensbeheerder met een sterke focus op langetermijnwaardecreatie, verantwoord beleggen en stewardship. Eerder dit jaar kondigde hij aan dat hij per 10 augustus 2026 terugtreedt als CEO en CIO, na acht jaar leiding te hebben gegeven aan de organisatie. 

Daarvoor was Jacco onder meer CEO en CIO van Delta Lloyd Asset Management. Eerder bekleedde hij senior beleggingsfuncties bij Allianz, Lombard Odier en ABN AMRO, en was hij Business Leader Financial Sector & Wealth bij Mercer. 

Tot slot, Jacco studeerde Econometrie aan Tilburg University. Hij is 53 jaar, en is getrouwd en heeft drie kinderen en woont in Beusichem.

They discuss why Riverty decided to become a bank, what the licence changes in practice, and why the company has no ambition to become a traditional retail bank. Instead, the conversation focuses on embedded finance, the future of Buy Now, Pay Later, and Riverty's strategy to support merchants across Europe.

Arjan Bol werkt al meer dan 25 jaar op het snijvlak van betalingsverkeer, bankwezen en verzekeringen. Hij begon zijn loopbaan in de financiële sector in de jaren negentig en vervulde sindsdien uiteenlopende functies bij ING, Nationale-Nederlanden, Mastercard en Aon, zowel in Nederland als internationaal. Zo werkte hij onder meer in Zuid-Korea, de Filipijnen, Tsjechië, Slowakije, Mexico en het Verenigd Koninkrijk. Bij Mastercard was hij eerst Country Manager Nederland en later internationaal verantwoordelijk voor de commercialisering van nieuwe betaalplatformen. Daarna werd hij Chief Commercial Officer bij Aon Nederland. Daarnaast vervulde hij toezichthoudende rollen, waaronder bij bunq en CM Payments.   

Sinds april 2025 is hij algemeen directeur van Betaalvereniging Nederland.     Arjan studeerde Bouwkunde aan de TU Delft en Bedrijfskunde aan Nyenrode Business Universiteit. Tot slot, Arjan is 55 jaar, woont in Amsterdam met zijn vrouw Mireille en heeft 3 kinderen.

In deze extra aflevering van Leaders in Finance spreekt Jeroen Broekema met Twan Huys over zijn nieuwe boek Het Droompad.

Aanleiding voor het boek is een wandeltocht van 550 kilometer van München naar Venetië, die Twan in verschillende etappes samen met zijn zoon Jack liep. Maar dit gesprek gaat over veel meer dan wandelen. Het gaat over de relatie tussen vader en zoon, over de invloed van ouders op een mensenleven, over afscheid nemen, rouw verwerken en de vraag hoe je rust vindt in een bestaan dat altijd maar doorgaat.

Twan vertelt openhartig over het overlijden van zijn beide ouders tijdens het schrijfproces van het boek, over zijn eigen neiging om altijd bezig te zijn en over de bijzondere gesprekken die ontstonden tijdens weken wandelen door de Alpen en Dolomieten. Ook spreken zij over natuur, klimaatverandering, massatoerisme, ambitie, werkdruk en waarom juist vertraging soms helpt om scherper te zien wat er echt toe doet.

Duco van Lanschot is a Dutch fintech entrepreneur and the founder of Duna, a fast-growing technology company focused on business identity. Through Duna, he is building infrastructure that enables banks, fintechs and platforms to verify and onboard businesses, think KYC on Business Customers, more quickly and with less friction. The company was founded in 2023 by Duco and David Schreiber, and in a short period of time it has already raised more than €40 million in funding: first a €11 million seed round in 2025, followed by a €30 million Series A in February 2026. According to Duna, customers including Plaid, CCV-Fiserv, Moss, bol and Brand New Day Bank are already using the platform.

Before founding Duna, Duco worked at a number of well-known companies in tech and fintech. At Stripe, he was responsible for the Benelux and DACH regions, he served as Chief Commercial Officer at Fourthline, and at Blendle he worked on the company’s international expansion. Before that, he started his career at McKinsey & Company.

Finally, Duco studied law at Utrecht University. He is 38 years old and lives in Amsterdam with his wife and two children.

Michael Jongeneel has been the CEO of FMO since September 2021. The Dutch development bank manages a portfolio of more than €15 billion and invests in the private sector across more than 85 emerging markets worldwide, with a strong focus on climate action, reducing inequality, and sustainable economic growth.

Michael studied Business Information Technology at the University of Twente and started his career in consulting at Accenture and later McKinsey & Company. In 2007, he joined Triodos Bank, where he held several executive roles, including Chief Operating Officer and Managing Director of Triodos Investment Management. After eight years at Triodos, he became a partner at Bain & Company, where he founded the global sustainability practice for financial services and advised leading banks and insurers on the climate transition and sustainable finance.

Beyond his professional career, Michael has long been active in the social and non-profit sector. Among other roles, he served as treasurer of Oxfam International and was treasurer of Giro555 for seven years. He lives near Utrecht, is married, and has two children.

Hans den Hoedt werkt al zo’n 30 jaar in investment banking. Hij studeerde Business Economics and Finance aan de Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam en begon zijn carrière in 1995 bij ABN AMRO, waar hij doorgroeide tot Managing Director.

Na een periode als Managing Director bij de Royal Bank of Scotland stapte hij in 2010 over naar Goldman Sachs. Vanuit Londen leidde hij daar jarenlang capital markets voor West-Europa. In 2020 opende hij het kantoor van Goldman Sachs in Amsterdam. Vandaag is Hans Head of Investment Banking en Country Head Nederland bij Goldman Sachs.

Hans is 57 jaar, woont in Londen en Amsterdam, is getrouwd en heeft samen met zijn vrouw drie kinderen.

As we mark the 200th episode of the Leaders in Finance Podcast, we are honoured to welcome Mikael Björknert.

Mikael Björknert became CEO of PrivatBank on 20 January 2025. He now leads Ukraine’s largest state owned bank, serving more than 18 million active customers, with over 70% of Ukrainians using its services. 

He brings more than 25 years of experience in the financial sector. Before taking the helm at PrivatBank in Kyiv, he held several senior leadership positions at Swedbank, including Head of Swedish Banking, where he was responsible for one of the bank’s core business areas. He also served as Chairman of Bankgirot and as a board member of Nasdaq in Sweden. 

Mikael holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Uppsala University. He is 59 years old, lives in Kyiv, and is married with two children.

Thomas Vles is a serial entrepreneur with a background in e-commerce and startups. He first gained international attention in 2013 with Poopy Cat, a company built around sustainable disposable cardboard litter boxes and modular cat products. In 2015, to mark the UK launch, he cycled from Amsterdam to London with his two cats in a cargo bike, a stunt that drew media attention around the world.

After selling Poopy Cat in 2017, he started investing in and advising startups through BlueBottle Ventures. He later spent a year as Managing Director of the Dutch Startup Association, before moving into fintech in 2021 as CEO of Tellow. From 2023 onwards, he served as Chief Revenue Officer at Shine, formerly known as Ageras.

Since May 2024, he has been building GoDutch. It is not a traditional bank, but a fintech platform that aims to make business banking fairer by sharing part of its income with entrepreneurs, while also taking away much of the administrative hassle.

Thomas first studied Physics and Astrophysics at the University of Amsterdam, before switching to Psychology at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, where he completed two master’s degrees. He is 41 years old, lives in Amsterdam, is married, and has two children.

Johann Kaemingk is een van de grondleggers van Optiver. In 1986 richtte hij het bedrijf  op in Amsterdam, waar het begon als een klein team van handelaren op de beursvloer. Sindsdien is Optiver uitgegroeid tot een wereldwijde market maker met meer dan 2200 medewerkers, die liquiditeit verschaft aan financiële markten over de hele wereld. 

Johann heeft in die ontwikkeling een belangrijke rol gespeeld. In de afgelopen decennia hielp hij Optiver uit te bouwen van een onderneming met wortels op de beursvloer tot het technologiegedreven bedrijf dat het vandaag is. Hij was jarenlang actief in het management, waaronder als  Group Chief Risk Officer. In 2020 trad hij terug uit de operationele activiteiten, maar hij bleef wel actief als founder en lid van Optiver’s Executive Committee. 

Johann deed Atheneum, is 68 jaar, woont in Zeist en is getrouwd en heeft 7 kinderen en op dit moment 8 kleinkinderen.

Emma Thomas has been CEO of Achmea Farm Insurance in Australia since April 2017. She leads the Executive Leadership Team and oversees Strategy and People and Culture, with a clear focus on Achmea’s mission: keeping farmers farming. Under her leadership, the specialist agricultural insurer has grown from a start up challenger into a major player in the Australian market, with consistent double digit growth.

Emma grew up in New Zealand with strong farming roots, from her grandparents’ Merino sheep farm in Central Otago to her parents’ deer and sheep farm in Riverton, Southland. She spent a lot of time helping on the farm while studying and starting her career in accounting and insurance. Before moving to Australia, she and her husband also raised their children on a small sheep and horse lifestyle farm on the Kapiti Coast.

She studied commerce at the University of Otago and began her career in audit at a big four firm in New Zealand, Australia, and the United States. She later held an executive role at an IT solutions company, then spent a decade in senior leadership at FMG (Farmers Mutual Group) before joining Achmea. She now lives in Sydney with her husband and two children.

Samen met Christian Meijer van Wijzer in Geldzaken, Willem van den Berg van a.s.r., en docenten Renée Audier-Oranje en Önder Baytimur van het Albeda College bespreken we hoe jongeren vandaag de dag omgaan met geld, welke risico’s zij tegenkomen en waarom financiële weerbaarheid niet vanzelfsprekend is.

Aan bod komen onder meer geldstress onder jongeren, de invloed van social media en influencers, de verleiding van achteraf betalen en crypto, en de vraag waarom juist mbo-studenten vaak extra kwetsbaar zijn. Ook gaat het gesprek in op de rol van onderwijs, ouders, overheid en financiële instellingen: waar ligt de verantwoordelijkheid, wat werkt in de praktijk echt, en hoe zorg je dat financiële educatie meer wordt dan een eenmalige gastles?
