Does human nature exist?

The idea of ‘human nature’ has become controversial. In the past, it has been used to denigrate other people, other cultures, and other creatures. But according to philosopher Katie Ebner-Landy, we cannot do away with the concept, in spite of all its flaws. What understanding of human nature might avoid the violence to which it was put in the past? And can it help to make human lives better?
